Johnston trophy and Pancake race - 07-03-2010

A very cold but sunny morning in Farningham woods, our enthusiastic Scouts took on other Scout troops in the District in the Johnston trophy. For those of you who've no idea what this is, it's a series of different bases to visit, each with a 10 minute time period to complete the challenge set, with points awarded accordingly. This varied from tying knots, to a team effort with ropes and pulleys, map reading, and pancake making, among others.

Before the results for the trophy were given, the pancake race was run with some of the pancakes the teams prepared earlier. Despite some stiff competition our Scouts emerged victorious in the race, and were delighted to find that they'd won the Johnston trophy too! So all in all a very good day for the Troop, and a very big thankyou to the Scouts, Dan, Harry, Sam, Emma, Will and Lewis, and also to their parents for turning out on a freezing morning to allow them to take part.
